学会の設立と沿革
日本美術教育学会は、美術教育の理念を究明し、教育実践の方策を探求することを目的として、昭和 26 年、京都大学文学部教授・井島勉を会長として創立されました。学術研究大会を京都大学において開催すること
27 回、その後中村二柄二代会長を中心に日本各地で開催を継続し、2003 年よりの神林恒道会長を迎え、新しい時代に対応した本学会の刷新にとりくんできました。その間、機関誌および会報を定期的に発刊し、会員相互の連携と研鑽を深めつつ、背骨ある美術教育者を育てて参りました。なお、第
13 期から第 19 期まで連続して日本学術会議に登録され、その後も日本学術会議協力学術研究団体に属しています。
また、平成 29 年には法人化し、一般社団法人日本美術教育学会となり、会長から代表理事となり初代神林恒道、二代大橋功、三代細谷僚一へと引き継がれ今日に至っています。
本学会は、美術教育の研究・実践に携わる方々をはじめとし、美術教育の重要な意義を確信し、その発展に寄与することをめざす方々によって構成されています。現在、年に１回の学術研究大会を開催し、学会誌『美術教育』を刊行しています。会員は、これらの機会に研究成果を口頭発表及び論文として投稿することができます。（大会での口頭発表は、その時点で会員期間
1 年の経過を要します。研究論文は査読審査が行われます。）また、各種セミナー、シンポジウムを開催するなど、美術教育の研究者だけでなく、教育実践に携わる方や美術や教育に関心をお持ちのすべての方々に広く門戸を広げています。
Establishment and History of the Society
Art Education Society of Japan was established in 1951 with the aim of
exploring the principles of art education and seeking strategies for educational
practices. Professor Tsutomu Ijima, a faculty member of Kyoto University's
Faculty of Letters, served as the first chairman. The academic research
conferences were held at Kyoto University for 27 times, and later, under
the leadership of the second and third chairmen, Nihei Nakamura and Tsunemichi
Kambayashi, respectively, the conferences continued to be held throughout
Japan. In 2003, the current chairman, Tsunemichi Kambayashi, took office,
leading efforts to revitalize the society in response to the new era.
Throughout this period, the society regularly published journals and reports,
fostering collaboration and refinement among members while nurturing educators
with a strong foundation in art education. From the 13th to the 19th terms,
the society was continuously registered with the Japan Academy, and later,
it became a member of the Japan Academy Cooperation Academic Research Group.
In 2017, the society was incorporated as a general incorporated association,
known as Art Education Society of Japan, with Tsunemich Kambayashi as the
representative director, Isao Ohashi as the second representative director,
and Ryoichi Hosotani as the third representative director.
The society consists of individuals engaged in the research and practice
of art education, as well as those who recognize the importance of art
education and strive to contribute to its development. Currently, the society
organizes an annual academic research conference and publishes the journal
"Art Education." Members have the opportunity to present their
research results orally and submit papers at these events (oral presentations
at the conference require a membership period of at least one year, and
research papers undergo peer review). The society also holds various seminars
and symposiums, welcoming not only researchers in art education but also
those involved in educational practices and anyone with an interest in
art and education.
